His article on dental trauma in The Journal of Evidence-Based Dental Practice, that he co-authored with his wife, has been the top 25 most accessed online article for several years. He has lectured on the use of research to stay current in dental practice to educators and practitioners nationwide and internationally.

Dr. Miller married Syrene A. Koons of Shoreline, Washington. They have 6 children. They spend their free time horseback riding, snow skiing, and playing sports. Dr. Miller and his family have chosen North Spokane and Deer Park as the ideal communities in which to raise their family and enjoy the outdoors.
